Chicken Salt Tastes Good On Anything

Ok…Maybe not on anything…but it is good stuff. Really good.

What is chicken salt? I had never heard of it, before coming to Australia. Basically, it’s a seasoned salt with chicken extract added. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasoned_salt)

Here in Oz, you can get chicken salt on your fries or chips (but remember “fries” are called “chips” here, and “chips” are called “crisps”–very confusing, for us Americans, I know–but, don’t worry, most people understand the word variations). You can get chicken-flavor crackers (“crackers” are known as “biscuits”). You can also buy chicken seasoning, to cook with, which Glen and I like to add to scrambled eggs. Does that seem wrong? Who cares. It sure is tasty!

  1. hey! I came across your blog by accident, but I also just recently moved to Adelaide (In january, from Canada) and it’s really interesting how you’ve noticed all the same cultural differences that I have been!
I must say though, chicken crimpy shapes have become kind of an addiction.
